Analytical Specialist (Chemistry)
Location: Houston, Texas – In-person
Schedule: Full-time, Day Shift (40 hrs/week)
Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000/ year
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Analytical Specialist to serve as a technical cornerstone in our laboratory. This is a dynamic role for a problem-solver who thrives on developing new methodologies, improving existing processes, and providing expert technical support to both our lab and field teams. You will bridge the gap between complex analytical data and practical solutions for our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Method Development: Design, validate, and optimize analytical chemistry methods.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex analytical issues using a wide array of laboratory instrumentation.
- Training & Mentorship: Lead training sessions for lab and field staff on new techniques and equipment operations.
- Equipment Management: Oversee the calibration and maintenance of critical laboratory and field equipment.
- Client Liaison: Act as a technical subject matter expert during discussions with customers to ensure data accuracy and project success.
Technical Expertise
Candidates should be proficient in or familiar with:
- Chromatography: GC-FID, GC-MS
- Spectroscopy: ICP-OES, UV-Vis
- Electrochemistry: Voltammetry,
- Wet Chemistry: KF (Karl Fischer), Titrations, distillations, and colorimetry
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry strongly preferred; relevant professional experience will be considered.
- Experience: 5 years in an analytical chemistry environment is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and strong mathematical aptitude.
- Communication: Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical reporting and client interaction.
- Flexibility: While primarily a day-shift role, occasional weekends or holidays may be required based on project needs.
