Mid-Level Associate – Mergers & Acquisitions
Location: Chicago, IL | Compensation: $310,000 – $390,000 (base salary)
Our client, a top Am Law 100 firm, is seeking a mid-level associate (4 years of experience) to join its M&A / Corporate practice in Chicago. This role offers the opportunity to advise public and private companies, high-growth ventures, and institutional investors on complex domestic and cross-border transactions.
About the Role
The successful candidate will represent clients across a full spectrum of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, corporate restructurings, and strategic investments, often involving multijurisdictional and time-sensitive matters. You’ll work directly with senior partners and clients, leading due diligence, negotiating key transaction documents, and managing deal execution.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 4 years of M&A experience in a sophisticated law firm setting
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills, particularly with purchase and merger agreements, shareholder and operating agreements, and related documents
- Admission (or eligibility for admission) to the Illinois Bar
- Excellent academic credentials and commercial awareness
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams
- Collaborative, proactive, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
