DEFINITION
The marketing communications specialist is responsible for internal and external communications for Marin Sanitary. This role serves as the central point of coordination for company messaging, ensuring consistent, accurate, and timely communications to employees, shareholders, franchise holders, customers, media, and the broader community.
The Communications Manager works closely with executive leadership, operations, finance, human resources, customer relations, and external vendors. This position does not typically exercise direct supervisory authority but may coordinate the work of consultants, designers, printers, or agencies.
This is an Hourly Non-Exempt position.
JOB DUTIES:
Internal Communications
- Develop, prepare, and distribute internal company communications, including:
- Employee newsletters
- Shareholder newsletters
- Executive announcements and updates
- Ensure internal messaging aligns with company values, strategic priorities, and operational realities.
- Collaborate with leadership and department heads to gather content and ensure clarity and accuracy.
External Communications
- Plan, write, and distribute press releases and official company statements.
- Serve as a key coordinator for external messaging to ensure consistency across channels.
- Arrange and coordinate interviews for executive management and represent the company in interviews when directed by executive management.
- Support crisis or time-sensitive communications as needed.
Marketing & Collateral Development
- Support various departments with the development, production, and maintenance of marketing materials and collateral.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors (designers, printers, etc.) to ensure timely and cost-effective production.
- Maintain brand standards and messaging consistency across all materials.
Digital & Social Media
- Oversee and manage company social media channels.
- Plan and coordinate content, posting schedules, and messaging strategy.
- Monitor engagement and respond or escalate inquiries as appropriate.
- Work with customer relations team on content development communicating customer service information and educational content.
Publications & Reporting
- Lead the production of the customer newsletter.
- Coordinate development, content gathering, and production of the annual report to franchise holders.
- Manage timelines, approvals, and final distribution.
- May be asked to assist with preparation of RFP response packages.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
- Principles and practices of internal and external communications.
- Marketing, branding, and messaging strategies.
- Social media platforms and content management.
- Business communications within an operational and industrial services environment.
Ability to:
- Write clear, concise, and professional communications for diverse audiences.
- Manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Translate complex operational information into accessible messaging.
- Maintain attention to detail and ensure accuracy.
- Build effective working relationships across departments.
- Coordinate vendors and external partners.
- Operate standard office software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, as well as social media applications and programs.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in corporate communications, marketing, or a related role.
- Experience with newsletters, press releases, and multi-audience messaging required.
- Familiarity with industrial, environmental, or operations-driven organizations is a plus.
- Spanish-English bilingual a plus
Pay: $56,000.00 - $78,000.00 per year
