POSITION SUMMARY
Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) needed for one-on-one work with a young adult female with special needs (autism). This is a 2-hour daily session, five days a week, conducted in-person in Novato, CA. The PTA will implement a structured curriculum developed by a licensed Physical Therapist and coordinated by the family. Sessions involve physical activity, movement-based exercises, outdoor walking, and structured therapeutic routines. Candidate must be physically active, highly organized, and have some experience with special needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement the physical therapy curriculum as designed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
Coordinate session planning and scheduling with the family.
Engage client in prescribed physical activities: structured therapy exercises, walking, coordinated movements such as basic dance steps.
Maintain session notes and report progress to the supervising PT and family.
Arrive on time and maintain a dependable 2-hour daily schedule, five days per week.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum: High school diploma; PTA training or equivalent certification required.
Experience in stroke rehabilitation and/or working in a clinical setting is highly preferred.
Physically fit; must be able to climb stairs repeatedly and participate in sustained physical activity.
Punctual, organized, and reliable.
Warm, patient, and professional demeanor.
CPR/First Aid certified.
Minimum of two professional work references required.
Background Check Mandatory.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field.
Specialist training in stroke, developmental disabilities, therapeutic recreation.
Training in modalities such as Feldenkrais, Anat Baniel, yoga.
Experience with movement or dance-based therapeutic activities.
COMPENSATION
$40–$50 per hour, commensurate with experience and certification. Position is 2 hours/day, 5 days/week (approximately 10 hours per week).
