The award-winning Marin County Fair is the County’s premier community event with over 90,000 attendees annually. Held annually over the 4th of July holiday, fairgoers enjoy five days of art, rides, concerts, fair food delights, shopping and so much more.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Department of Cultural Services is looking for Guest/Ticket Ambassador staff to work on the upcoming Marin County Fair, July1st-5th, 2026. There are multiple temporary contingent positions for the 2026 Marin County Fair. Guest/Ticket Ambassadors work in one of four areas: Ticketing & Box Office, Exhibit Monitors, Fair Office and Concerts.
Guest/Ticket Ambassadors work in one of four areas: Gates & Box Office, Exhibit Monitors, Fair Office and Concerts. In the application, you will be able select the areas that interest you. The four areas are:

Guest & Ticket Ambassador (Gates& Box Office)
In this guest-focused position, Ambassadors scan tickets and support guests with their tickets while in line and at the Box Office. They reprint lost tickets, monitor credentials and work closely with security personnel and the Lead to ensure the smooth passage of guests through the gates. Bilingual skills in Spanish are highly desirable.

Guest Ambassador (Exhibit Monitor)
Exhibit Monitors support the Competitive Exhibits in the Exhibit Hall. They provide information, monitor entrances and exits, and process sales.

Guest Ambassador (Fair Office)
This Ambassador is based in the Fair Office and responsible for answering phones, addressing in-person inquiries, managing lost and found, providing guest information, and handling guest questions and concerns.

Guest Ambassador (Concerts)
In this role, Ambassadors provide guest-focused service at the nightly headliner concerts at the Island Pavilion. Duties include directing guests to General Admission & ADA seating, restrooms, concessions, and monitors entrances/exits. They answer questions, monitor the crowd for any potential safety concerns and report them to appropriate personnel. Bilingual skills in Spanish are highly desirable.

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate possesses exceptional customer service skills and is technically savvy, capable of effectively communicating with Marin Center staff, facility users, ticket outlets, and the public. You must remain calm under pressure, maintain organized documentation, and excel at fostering positive professional relationships to ensure a seamless and successful event. An additional 5% bilingual pay is available for staff fluent in Spanish.
QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE OF
  • Techniques for dealing with the public, individually and in groups.
  • Standard theater practices and procedures, including patron seating assignment and the operation of standard equipment.
ABILITY TO
  • Deal tactfully and effectively with visitors.
  • Use current technology such as handheld computing devices and/or Point of Sale systems.
  • Interpret, apply and explain regulations, rules, policies and procedures.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Maintain attention to detail and remaining calm while handling multiple activities or queries.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.

The Minimum Qualifications are:
Previous work experience is not required. Some experience as an Usher and/or in a related field at public events or in other customer service settings is highly desirable.

Bilingual skills in Spanish are highly desirable.

The compensation for this position is $21.46 per hour, corresponding to Step 3 of the Event Attendant classification (Job Code: 1180).
