POSITION TITLE:

     Assistant Coach Swimming Varsity Girls

RESPONSIBLE TO:

     Athletic Director

     Head Coach

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

Helping each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
2. Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.Works closely with the athletic director in scheduling intramural and interscholastic contests.
3. Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms, as appropriate.
4. Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
5. Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the sport.Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
6. Performs other duties as may be assigned by authorized personnel.                                                                 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• Valid Teaching Certificate preferred.

Experience:

• Successful coaching experience.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

• Knowledge of athletic area and ability to teach skills in an acceptable manner.
• Skillful in interpersonal relationships.
• Knowledge of child growth and development.
• Uses sound judgement.

Out of state applicants are strongly encouraged to apply for Georgia teacher certification.
