What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Lead Ophthalmic Technician position at Marietta Eye Clinic?
Summary of Responsibilities:
Must be able to meet all skill requirements identified in the Marietta Eye Clinic certified ophthalmic assistant/technician job description.
Essential Job Functions:
· Insure smooth and timely patient flow for physicians’ and optometrists’ sessions on a daily basis.
· Anticipate and allocate resources needed for each session, based on the skills, experience and availability of support staff.
· Work cooperatively with Clinical Director/& Supervisor/Site Manager to insure adequate staff for each session, based on the skills, experience and availability of support staff.
· Triage patients appropriately and override clinic template when needed.
· Insures that all necessary patient encounter, billing and optical documentation is completed in a timely manner.
· Insure that all supporting documentation is complete, i.e. lifestyle surveys, pachymetry, logs, prescriptions, consents, patient education, documentation and payer related documents.
· Assign or complete each session’s patient calls, fast faxes ad missed appointments calls.
· Track lab/diagnostic tests and results and insure are given to physician for review and signature and placed in medical record.
· Track all consult requests and follow-up with patients to insure consult is obtained. Place written consult results on front chart for physician review and signature, the file in medical record.
· Monitor the physicians’ and optometrists’ office schedules. Address any issues that arise, i.e. overbooking errors, need for template changes, special needs, and communicate with appropriate personnel and management team.
· Supports the physicians’ surgery scheduler to insure readiness of charts several days prior to surgery.
· Assist in the resolution of patient complaints.
· Contributes to team performance evaluations.
· Participates in staff training.
· Participates in all Lead Tech Meetings.
· Serves as site representative to lead tech team to address clinical issues.
· Actively participate in all quality improvement efforts initiated by the Senior Management Team.

Minimum Education Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
Minimum Background Requirements
- Must be an ophthalmic assistant for three months before promotion to Lead Tech and possess clinical skills as outlined on the Tech II (COA/COT) job description
