POSITION TITLE: Color Guard Instructor
CLASSIFICATION: Stipend

General Statement Of Responsibilities
The Color Guard Instructor is responsible for choreographing and teaching routines for a school's color guard team. This role involves working closely with the marching band to create engaging and polished performances for various events. The instructor will lead rehearsals, provide technical skills training, and ensure that students maintain high standards of discipline and sportsmanship.
Principal Duties
Able to perform the following physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation: critical sensory requirements include general vision, corrected to 20/20, hear or listen in the normal range (corrected) and speak and give directions clearly. Able to walk, sit, stand, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, lift (exerting force up to 50 pounds), carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 125 lbs.

The instructor will lead rehearsals, provide technical skills training, and ensure that students maintain high standards of discipline and sportsmanship.
Principal Duties
- Choreograph and teach routines that complement the marching band's performances for competitive and non-competitive events.
- Lead and supervise regular practice sessions to develop members' skills in flag spinning, rifle handling, and dance.
- Collaborate with the Band Director and other instructors to align color guard performances with the overall band program.
- Organize and direct public performances, including halftime shows, competitions, and community events.
- Monitor inventory and maintenance of all color guard equipment and uniforms.
- Encourage teamwork, discipline, and a positive attitude among all team members.
- Evaluate performance and provide constructive feedback to the team for continuous improvement.
- Ensure a safe and healthy rehearsal environment by enforcing rules and monitoring student conduct.
- Expressed interest in athletics
- Experience in coaching
- Physical ability to perform essential functions
- Available to work during assigned hours
- Understanding of and agreement with the District's goals of an athletic program
- Knowledge of coaching techniques and human behavior
- Possess knowledge of the State, Federal and School Board Policies and Regulations
- Familiar with the care and treatment of athletic injuries
- All High School Head Athletic Coaches (except Spirit Line/Cheerleading) must be certified by the Arizona Department of Education
- Coaches must complete NFHS Coaches Course including Concussion Course
- First Aid and CPR Certification
- AZ DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
