Job Type Unclassified - Judicial Department D800 Superior Court About the Position The Research Assistant supports the Juvenile Department by conducting research, compiling data, writing reports or summaries, distributing information, providing recommendations for process improvements, and providing administrative support to the Management Analyst and the Department Administrator. The work conducted by the Research Assistant is relied upon to provide quality service to the public and make data-driven decisions to improve outcomes. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS We recognize your time is valuable, so please apply if you meet the following required qualifications: Education: Associate degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Public Administration, Political Science, Justice Studies, Social Work, or a related field Experience: Two (2) years of administrative experience collecting data, analyzing data, and creating reports OR Combined education and experience qualifications: Other combinations of post-secondary education and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications on a year for year basis Other Requirements: A valid Arizona driver’s license at time of hire Our Preferred Candidate has: Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, statistics, public administration, political science, justice studies, social work, or a related field Intermediate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Knowledge of: Data collection and analysis principles, including a strong grasp of mathematical principles like averages and percentages The structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar Skill in: Intermediate use of Microsoft Excel, particularly the use pivot tables, functions, sorting and filtering tables Communicating verbally and in writing with others to convey information professionally and effectively Establishing and maintaining constructive and cooperative working relationships with individuals within all levels of the organization and with stakeholders Identifying problems, reviewing related information, and recommending solutions. Accurately work within databases and spreadsheets, including performing data entry and retrieval as needed. Proofreading with exceptional attention to detail Ability to: Work independently and collectively with colleagues Maintain a thorough understanding of the Juvenile Department and support the Court’s mission, vision, and values Maintain high levels of professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity in all interactions Analyze, interpret, and apply critical thinking in the interpretation of complex data Accurately prepare and maintain records, files, and reports Prioritize, organize, plan, and manage multiple assignments efficiently and effectively with an emphasis on attention to detail Learn the skills necessary to support the needs and mission of the Juvenile Department and Court Understand basic file layouts Deliver seamless customer service and recognize the need for the professional handling of all matters Exercise initiative and independent judgment while receiving occasional instruction or assistance as new or unique situations/projects arise ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS (This is not an all-inclusive list of all job duties that may be required; employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned.) Manages large volume of electronic data requests for the unit Regularly handles the coordination and distribution of electronic monthly statistical reports to court departments Reviews database records to ensure accuracy Assists in tracking data and statistics Assists in conducting research and surveys Assists with researching background information for data requests, including researching documents, compiling statistical data, gathering, summarizing, and analyzing information, and writing reports or summaries Review and clean data in the court data system Modify, create, and test interactive dashboards in SAS Pull, create, update, and distribute reports Monitors legislation and provides updates and summaries to management Evaluates processes and makes recommendations for improvements Researches and makes recommendations for special order requests Provides administrative support to the unit Working conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak clearly and hear; see details of objects that are less than a few feet away; sit for long periods of time; stand, walk, use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and occasionally push, pull or lift up to 20 pounds. Judicial Branch facilities are located throughout Maricopa County. This position may be reassigned to other locations. Assignments will be made based upon the needs of the department.
