- Two years of experience in skilled construction or maintenance
- High school diploma or GED
- A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
- Must possess a valid Arizona Commercial Class A Driver’s License (CDL)
- State and federal regulations require Maricopa County to conduct a pre-employment safety history investigation for all positions that require an applicant to possess a commercial driver’s license (CDL). Maricopa County is also required to conduct a pre-employment safety history investigation for positions that directly impact commercial motor vehicle safety, but may not specifically require a valid CDL
- ATTSA Traffic Control certification
- Experience in guardrail installation and repair
- Experience with landscaping tools
- Experience in cattle guard repair
- Knowledge of road maintenance and repair methods and materials
- Skilled in establishing effective working relationships with others, and skilled in effective communication, both verbal and written
- Lead work crews performing construction and maintenance activities
- Prioritize and assign tasks; ensure that all safety rules and regulations are observed on the job site
- Monitor and enforce adherence to division policies, procedures, and standards
- Supervise the repair of roadway surfaces, culverts, shoulders, and guardrails
- Supervise traffic control activities as needed; report safety hazards; perform tasks in the interest of public safety and property protection during emergencies
- Operate a variety of trucks, equipment, and hand tools in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures
- Complete work orders to meet Division standards; prepare daily activity and material, and equipment usage reports
- Transport work crews to and from work sites
- Instruct crew in the proper use and maintenance of equipment
- Perform a variety of miscellaneous support tasks and other duties as assigned
- Exerting 50 - 100 pounds occasionally, 10 - 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 - 20 pounds constantly
- Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration
- Gannon, backhoe, skid steer, road broom, hand tools, chain saw, pole saw, weed trimmer, and concrete mixer
- Hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, safety vest, steel-toe boots, and hearing protection
