Job Summary

This position is scheduled to begin August 2026.

Mesa Community College seeks applicants for a Residential Business Faculty position, to teach a variety of courses to diverse student populations with an emphasis in general business management. Instructional areas may include business management, project management, small business management and human resource management.

The ideal candidate will have a combination of education and experience to fulfill critical teaching roles as well as the ability to build and expand relationships and partnerships with businesses, universities, and community organizations for the benefit of our students. They will also ensure students are prepared to fulfill the needs of local employers. We are looking for a faculty member with a track record of commitment to service excellence, innovation, assessment, student success, and integrity in the performance of job duties.

Essential Functions

The successful candidate for this position will:
  • Teach a diverse population of students in a classroom and/or lab setting, online or hybrid, accelerated, and/or other alternative schedules and formats; use active learning strategies to engage students and promote student learning, retention, and achievement; incorporate instructional technology and employ alternative delivery or scheduling techniques where appropriate.
  • Develop instructional materials, learning activities and curriculum; create and implement syllabi, course outlines, lecture and lab materials, as well as applied learning activities for assigned courses; grade student work and activities; effectively utilize course management software such as Canvas; utilize college and departmental assessment tools; participate in continuous evaluation and improvement of teaching and learning.
  • Maintain academic support hours to assist, tutor, and advise students to support learning, personal development, and citizenship; work with students outside of the classroom on instructional activities such as student research, clubs, and experiences for students in the community; develop and expand relationships and partnerships with K-12, higher education, industry, and/or community organizations.
  • Remain current with new trends and developments in the field through technology, research, reading/studying the literature, attendance at conferences, courses, seminars and/or workshops; develop and enhance knowledge of teaching and learning; participate in college and district activities, including department/division meetings, committees, workshops and projects.


Minimum Qualifications

The Occupational Teaching Fields require the following from an accredited college or university:

Five years of occupational experience in the field to be taught OR

Three years of occupational experience in the field to be taught and a Bachelor'sdegree or higher OR

A Master's degree or higher in the teaching field OR

A Master's degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credits in the teachingfield OR

A Master's degree or higher in any field with a combination of 24 upper division and/or graduate credits in the teaching field

Desired Qualifications

A. Master's or doctoral degree in management, business administration, leadership, human resources, project management, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

B. Industry experience in one or more areas relevant to the courses taught (e.g., management, HR, project management, customer service, small business operations).

C. Teaching experience in a management related field and/or in a classroom or industry setting. Experience should include a variety of modalities including online, hybrid, virtual online and/or face-to-face.

D. Experience in curriculum development and/or program assessment.

E. Demonstrated experience using AI tools responsibly in business or educational settings.

F. Experience facilitating activities outside the classroom for students such as internships, undergraduate student research, clubs, competitions, tours, service learning, etc.

G. Demonstrated experience collaborating with businesses, community organizations, or industry partners.

Special Working Conditions

May be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations

May require some evenings or Saturdays

May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen.

May be required to lift or carry up to #25 lbs.
