MAG's Transportation Planning team drives regional mobility and infrastructure development by providing technical expertise, policy planning, and data analysis in close collaboration with member agencies and the public. Acting as a central hub, the team supports long-range planning, aligns transportation investments with regional priorities, and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations.

MAG is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to work under minimal supervision, managing assigned responsibilities related to Long Range Planning and investment, Regional Collaboration, and data analysis.
Duties Include But Are Not Limited To
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in multimodal transportation planning and consultant management. The candidate must possess excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical data to various audiences. We are looking for a candidate with proven experience in regional multimodal transportation planning.
Skilled In
Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel, Microsoft Teams, Zoom and webinar tools. Familiarity with resources or tools related to transportation and socioeconomic data.

The Position
MAG is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to work under minimal supervision, managing assigned responsibilities related to Long Range Planning and investment, Regional Collaboration, and data analysis.
Duties Include But Are Not Limited To
- Manage multimodal transportation planning projects, including budgets, schedules, and consultant contracts.
- In coordination with procurement staff, manage procurement, execution and oversight of consultant contracts.
- Produce documentation, publications, reports, and presentations to communicate the findings of complex analyses on a range of topics.
- Reviews consultant deliverables and progress reports for consistency with task order requirements and budget. Ensure records are complete and organized.
- Coordinate with key stakeholders, member agencies, and partners to ensure timely project initiation and obligation.
- Represent MAG at public meetings, conferences, workshops, and other events.
- Provide technical assistance to member agencies and stakeholders.
- Evaluate and facilitate the project selection process for competitive funding.
- Serve as a subject matter expert of other divisions, agency partners, stakeholders, and MAG staff.
- Provide guidance and support to internal teams, performing cross-functional collaboration.

Education And Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Statistics, Engineering or closely related field
- A minimum of three years of related work experience in urban planning, transportation, and/or policy.
- A master's degree and/or graduate work in a related field, such as urban planning, and public sector experience are preferable.
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
- General knowledge of transportation regulatory requirements.
