Job Description:
The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for mechanical projects, including HVAC, plumbing, piping, and other mechanical systems. The successful candidate will work closely with the engineering, project management, and procurement teams to ensure that all aspects of the project are well-understood and properly accounted for in the estimate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed mechanical cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to develop comprehensive bid packages.
- Identify potential project risks and provide cost analysis for mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to ensure estimates align with project requirements.
- Stay current with industry standards, market trends, and material costs.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project reviews to assess project scope and challenges.
- Support project teams during construction by providing updated cost estimates and assisting with budget tracking.
- Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and up-to-date market information.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred but not required).
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator in the construction or engineering industry.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and piping.
- Proficiency in estimating software (such as FastPIPE, QuickPen, or similar).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
