Position Summary:
Marian Catholic High School is seeking a skilled and reliable Bus Transportation Maintenance Assistant with a minimum of three years of experience in vehicle maintenance and repair. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the school’s transportation fleet. This role requires hands-on mechanical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on school buses, including engines, brakes, tires, and electrical systems.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and implement timely solutions to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work, repairs, and inspections in accordance with school and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with scheduling and coordinating bus maintenance and service appointments.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation safety regulations.
- Support the Transportation Department in maintaining cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness of vehicles.
- Assist with emergency repairs and respond promptly to transportation-related issues as needed.
- Collaborate with drivers and administrative staff to ensure smooth daily transportation operations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in vehicle maintenance, preferably in school or commercial bus fleets.
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills with hands-on experience in automotive repair.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to school bus safety and transportation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy tools and parts.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments.
- Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
