Overview
Maria’s Tailor Shop is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Seamstress / Tailor to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, altering, and repairing garments with precision and craftsmanship. This role offers an opportunity to work on a variety of clothing items, including both men’s and women’s wear, utilizing a range of sewing techniques and fabric materials. The successful applicant will contribute to delivering high-quality custom apparel and alterations that meet our clients’ expectations.

Duties

• Perform clothing alterations to ensure proper fit and finish for a variety of garments.
• Construct garments from scratch, following patterns and specifications to produce custom apparel.
• Specialize in tailoring men’s wear, including suits, trousers, shirts, and other formal or casual pieces.
• Handle women’s wear tailoring, including dresses, skirts, blouses, and other apparel items.
• Work with different fabric materials, understanding their properties to ensure optimal sewing techniques.
• Execute garment sewing with attention to detail, ensuring durability and aesthetic quality.
• Produce custom apparel tailored to individual client measurements and preferences.
• Utilize hand sewing techniques for delicate or intricate details requiring precision.

Experience

• Proven experience in clothing alterations, garment construction, and tailoring is preferred.
• Familiarity with fabric materials and their appropriate handling is essential.
• Experience working with both men’s and women’s wear tailoring enhances suitability for this role.
• Skilled in garment sewing techniques, including hand sewing for fine details.
• Ability to interpret patterns and specifications accurately to produce high-quality finished products.

Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32.0 – 40.0 per week
