What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) position at Maria Regina Rehabilitation and Nursing?
Responsibilities:
- Assists the Director of Nursing in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Department in accordance with current Federal, State and local standards, guidelines and regulations
- Develops methods for coordinating nursing services with other services to ensure the continuity of care for the residents
- Ensures that all nursing personnel are following their respective job descriptions. Participates in developing, maintaining and periodically updating of written job descriptions for each level of nursing personnel
- Performs administrative duties assigned, including but not limited to, completing forms, reports, charting, audits ,etc.
- Responsible for the oversight and review of the investigations of resident accidents, incidents and medication errors—following up as needed with the nurse manager/supervisor responsible. Results of these investigations will be reported to the Director monthly
- Participates in the Continuous Quality Improvement Program. Prepares reports applicable to the program
- In the absence of the Director, serves on committees, including, but not limited to: Infection Control, Pharmaceutical, Budget Continuous Quality Improvement, etc.
- Oversees the In-service program for the Nursing Department
- Assists in determining staffing needs; recruitment and selection of nursing personnel
- Ensures that Nursing Department schedules are accurate and provide required coverage. Ensures timely posting of monthly nursing schedule
- Assists the Director in recruitment and selection of nursing personnel
- Monitors absenteeism, lateness and reports problems to Director
- Oversees supervisors’ work assignments
- Participates in assessment of suitable placement of prospective residents. Uses PRI as principal instrument for assessment
- Makes rounds daily
- Participates in survey inspections made by authorized agencies
- Attends mandatory In-services
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State
- Bachelor of Science Degree preferred
- Experience in Nursing Administration and geriatrics preferred
- Working knowledge of departmental budgeting
- Working knowledge of staffing and scheduling
- Experience with nursing recruitment and retention
- Experience with electronic medical records
- Working knowledge of Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement (QAPI)
- Previous experience with Infection Control oversight
- IV therapy certification preferred
- Knowledge of MDS 3.0 and certification as PRI assessor preferred
- BLS/AED (or ACLS) certification required
- Previous experience with staff education
- Commitment to continuing professional development
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
