What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Attorney position at Margolis Edelstein?
Margolis Edelstein is seeking Associate Attorneys to join our premier insurance defense law firm located in - Beaver, Pennsylvania. We are looking for general liability attorneys who are able to develop relationships with clients as they establish their legal needs, provide counsel, and help clients to understand legal options. This position offers the opportunity for independence and growth, while still providing mentoring, oversight, and a collegial, supportive environment. Team members have regular contact with clients, carrier, and the court, with the opportunity to gain great litigation experience. The ideal candidate must possess three years of experience and an active license to practice law in PA. Prior insurance defense and/or professional liability experience is preferred but not required.
Roles & Responsibilities - Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Analyze complex legal and factual issues, conduct extensive, well-reasoned legal research, independently develop and present defense strategies on behalf of clients.
- Prepare complex pleadings, written discovery, depositions (expert de bene esse/fact), motions, and briefs in support of defense strategies.
- Provide effective and timely communications, information, legal advice, and other services to clients and claims on legal and factual issues.
- Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel in a manner consistent with established office procedures.
- Responsible for the prompt, efficient, and effective disposition of assigned cases.
- Assist in preparing and presenting witnesses and evidence at trials, judicial and administrative hearings, arbitrations, and alternative dispute resolutions.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree with J.D., and admission to the PA Bar
- Minimum 3 years of experience in insurance defense or related setting
- Litigation Experience required (e.g., taking and defending depositions, preparation and filing of discovery and related motions, oral argument experience, etc.)
- Strong writing skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent work ethic
