What are the responsibilities and job description for the Performance Marketing Coordinator position at Margin Department?
ABOUT MARGIN DEPARTMENT
Margin Department is an embedded growth partner for product-led consumer brands, specializing in direct-to-consumer e-commerce businesses generating seven- to eight-figure revenues.
Margin Department was founded by a growth marketer and an engineer, both with years of experience growing brands from the inside. We're turning that experience into a software-enabled service that gives SMB consumer brands access to enterprise-grade technology and talent that they simply wouldn't be able to justify building alone.
MarginOS is our proprietary growth operating system — built in-house, maintained by our engineering team, and central to every engagement. It integrates financial data, marketing performance, customer behavior, product analytics, and more into a single platform that lets you see the full picture of a business and act on it in real time. You'll use it every day, and have the opportunity to help shape what it becomes.
This role will be the 5th hire on our team. For this reason, we are looking for someone who is excited by the opportunity to build something, not just join something.

ABOUT THE ROLE
You will support our founder directly across a portfolio of high-growth consumer brands — owning the execution layer so strategy can move faster.
That means you're the person making sure things get done: ads are trafficked correctly, reports are accurate and on time, creative briefs are ready for review, and nothing falls through the cracks.
You'll be supported by serious infrastructure: MarginOS handles the data layer, integrated AI tooling accelerates reporting and analysis, and you'll have direct access to the founder at all times. But the ownership is yours. You support the execution across the portfolio, and you are accountable for the quality of the work.
As you develop, you will take on increasing responsibility — expanding from execution into creative strategy and performance analysis.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
***AD OPERATIONS & MEDIA BUYING SUPPORT***
- Execute campaign builds, budget adjustments, bid strategy changes, and day-to-day optimizations across Meta Ads and Google Ads
- Own creative trafficking end-to-end: receive assets, apply naming conventions, stage drafts, assign UTMs, and launch on SLA
- Monitor accounts daily, flag anomalies, and surface issues before they become problems
- Perform bulk edits, manage schedules, and maintain account hygiene across the portfolio
***GROWTH STRATEGY & REPORTING***
- Build performance reports using AI-assisted workflows and MarginOS tooling
- Contribute ideas and analysis to broader client growth strategy, bringing opportunities and hypotheses to the table
- Learn forecasting and goal setting fundamentals: how growth models are built, how targets are set, how performance maps to goals, and how plans evolve over time
- Support demand planning inputs (inventory, seasonality, promos) and help translate goals into channel-level budgets and pacing guidance
- Help align ad account structure and strategy to each client’s business objectives
***PERFORMANCE CREATIVE SUPPORT***
- Draft first-pass creative insights from performance data, understanding how to translate metrics like hook rate, hold rate, CTR, cost per purchase, and fatigue signals into actionable guidance for our creative partners
- Translate media plans and founder direction into world-class creative briefs
- Contribute to swipe files across client categories and support competitive research efforts
***CLIENT COMMUNICATION***
- Attend client meetings, interfacing with clients in a warm and professional manner
- Communicate clearly about topics within your area of ownership, translating complexity into direct, helpful, low-fluff answers
- Stay responsive to inbound client questions and requests, resolving what you can and escalating to the founder quickly and with context when needed
- Maintain high standards for written communication (Slack/email): timely, organized, and action-oriented
- Grow over time into owning client relationships directly as you move into more senior roles at the firm

WHO THIS IS FOR
- You are still early in your career and you want to learn how growth actually works inside a consumer brand — not just manage tasks, but understand why they matter
- You recognize we’re at a unique moment in performance marketing — technology is changing what’s possible, and you want to be on the side that leans in early and compounds the advantage
- You are operationally excellent: organized, detail-oriented, and SLA-driven. You don't let things slip.
- You are curious. You want to understand the 'why' behind the work, and you'll ask when you don't.
- You flag problems early instead of waiting to be asked
- You’re excited to work at a company building the future of software-enabled services for consumer brands, and you want to help shape what that looks like in practice
