We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide essential care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or health challenges. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare teams
- Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with care plans and dietary restrictions while maintaining cleanliness in kitchen areas
- Administer medications following HIPAA guidelines and care protocols under supervision or as trained
- Support residents during social activities, outings, and community engagement to promote socialization and independence
- Maintain detailed documentation of care provided, resident progress, and incident reports in compliance with privacy regulations
- Perform light cleaning duties to ensure a safe and hygienic living environment for all residents
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or dementia care are advantageous
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and assist with transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident’s
(personal equipment) - Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer’s disease or autism spectrum disorder
- Strong organizational skills to follow care plans accurately and document resident information thoroughly
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or overnight hours as needed
