Truss Designer
Location: Spokane, WA (Hybrid/Onsite Preferred) or Remote within Washington/Oregon
Alternative Location: West Richland, WA (Onsite Preferred)
Compensation: $60,000 – $80,000 Total Compensation (DOE) or Higher
Position Overview
We are seeking a Truss Designer to join our growing team in Eastern Washington. This role is ideal for candidates with experience designing custom residential and light commercial roof and floor truss systems using MiTek software. The position will primarily support the estimating and quoting process while collaborating closely with sales, operations, and production teams.
Candidates located near Spokane, WA who can work from the office are highly preferred; however, qualified remote candidates residing in Washington or Oregon will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Design roof and floor truss systems using MiTek software.
- Prepare accurate truss layouts, engineering documentation, and production drawings.
- Generate material takeoffs and pricing estimates to support customer quotations.
- Review architectural and structural plans to ensure design accuracy and code compliance.
- Collaborate with sales teams to provide technical support during the bidding and quoting process.
- Coordinate with manufacturing and operations teams to ensure designs are production-ready.
- Modify and revise truss designs based on customer feedback and project requirements.
- Maintain project schedules while managing multiple design assignments.
Qualifications
- Experience designing roof and/or floor truss systems.
- Proficiency with MiTek truss design software preferred.
- Experience with custom residential construction, production homebuilding, and/or small commercial projects.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- MiTek SE experience.
- Previous experience supporting estimating, quoting, or sales functions.
- Knowledge of building codes, construction methods, and engineered wood products.
- Advanced truss design experience for complex residential or light commercial structures.
