Required Qualifications
- Possession of a valid Coaching Authorization or Coaching Endorsement, or willingness to obtain one in accordance with Iowa Department of Education standards.
- Knowledge of Iowa Girls High School Athletic Association (IGHSAU) rules, regulations, and best practices for coaching student-athletes.
- Strong commitment to promoting a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for student-athletes.
Position Overview
The Assistant Girls Basketball Coach will support the Head Coach in the development of a competitive and educational basketball program. This position emphasizes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and adherence to Iowa high school athletics standards.
Salary
$3,082.50 applicable experience lanes (per district schedule)
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices, games, and team activities.
- Attend mandatory IGHSAU rules meetings and any additional state or district-required training.
- Foster positive relationships with student-athletes, encouraging personal and athletic growth.
- Communicate effectively with the Head Coach, Athletic Director, student-athletes, parents, and school administrators.
- Provide instruction and guidance to individual athletes in skill development, conditioning, and game strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all policies set forth by the MMCRU School Board and IGHSAU regulations.
- Support the Head Coach in administrative tasks, including game preparation, scouting, and team documentation.
- Perform other coaching-related duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Athletic Director or Administration.
