Summary

The Credit Manager is responsible for the strategic leadership and day-to-day operations of the Credit and Collections Department. This role manages a team of seven (7) and is accountable for driving collections performance, credit risk management, chargeback oversight, and process improvement in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills, a positive, solutions-oriented attitude, and deep experience working with large retailers, such as Amazon, Costco, and Walmart, and luxury department stores.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Credit & Collections team of 7, fostering a positive, collaborative, and high-performance culture. Develop talent pipelines and succession plans within the Credit & Collections team.
  • Establish, monitor, and achieve monthly department and individual collection goals based on measurable KPIs. Prepare and present regular reporting on AR performance, DSO, chargebacks, credit exposure, and risk trends to senior management.
  • Own and drive improvement in Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) and overall cash conversion metrics
  • Manage day-to-day operations and serve as the primary escalation point for operational support, issue resolution, and customer negotiations. Own credit and collections workflows within SAP, including credit holds, dispute resolution, reporting, and controls.
  • Business partnership: partner cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, Customer Service, and Supply Chain to resolve disputes, unblock orders, and balance risk vs. commercial objectives.
  • Drive process improvements, efficiencies, and change initiatives; document and enhance credit and collections policies and controls in alignment with company and Marcolin standards.
  • Make informed decisions on customer credit limits and payment terms using sound judgment and measured risk assessment
  • Oversee chargeback management (required experience), including deductions and disputes with Amazon, major retailers, and luxury department stores. Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing management of internal chargeback processes and related accounts management, including Carixa.
  • Support cash management and cash application processes
  • Analyze customer credit risk, monitor hold/blocked accounts, and maintain a deep understanding of the customer base
  • Manage accounts receivable aging, bad debt reserves, and write-offs
  • Manage relationships and communications with external credit and collections agencies
  • Evaluate staffing needs; oversee hiring, training, motivation, and professional development of team members
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Experience & Background

  • BA/BS in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on credit and collections experience in a fast-paced, target-driven environment
  • Minimum 3 years of AR and Collections management experience, leading teams of 5 in high-volume, complex businesses
  • Chargeback experience is a must, particularly with Amazon, large retailers (Walmart, Costco, TJ Max), and luxury department stores
  • SAP experience strongly preferred
  • Cash management experience a plus
  • Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and advanced spreadsheets
  • Proven leadership and motivational skills with a positive, proactive attitude
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of professionalism with strong time management and multitasking capabilities
