Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Boat Captain role located in Marco Island, FL. The Boat Captain is responsible for safely operating and navigating the vessel for scheduled cruises and private events, following all maritime laws, regulations, and company procedures. Daily tasks include planning routes, monitoring weather and water conditions, overseeing docking and undocking, and ensuring all safety equipment and systems are inspected and operational. The Boat Captain leads and trains crew members, coordinates with hospitality staff to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and responds effectively to any onboard issues or emergencies. Additional responsibilities include maintaining logs and documentation, conducting pre- and post-trip inspections, and communicating clearly with guests and crew to promote a safe and welcoming environment.
Qualifications
- Strong boating and boat handling skills, including experience operating passenger vessels in coastal or inland waters.
- Proficiency in navigation, including chart reading, use of navigation systems, and understanding of tides, currents, and local waterways.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally, courteously, and patiently with guests and crew.
- Experience in training and leading crew members, including safety drills, operational procedures, and service standards.
- Valid U.S. Coast Guard captain’s license (appropriate tonnage for the vessel) and compliance with all required medical, drug-testing, and certification standards.100 Ton Master Required.
- Thorough knowledge of maritime safety regulations, emergency procedures, and vessel maintenance best practices.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, especially under changing weather or operational conditions.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by cruise operations.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, handle lines, and perform duties in a marine environment.
