Job Summary:
The Manager of Logistic and Supply Chain is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of supply chain, logistics with a strong focus on warehouse operations, shipping and receiving, distribution, logistics and systems compliance. She/he ensures the timely distribution of product, accurate and timely handling of shipping, receiving, freight coordination, and distribution activities.
This role provides direct leadership to the logistics staff, promoting a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement. This person will drive process improvements, work to introduce cutting-edge tech as it relates to this function, and lead the team to meet service, cost and operational goals. He/she is responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound freight, managing inventory movement, ensuring compliance with internal systems and regulatory requirements, and supporting overall supply chain efficiency.
Strong emphasis on cost containment, process adherence, and maintaining high standards of accuracy and service levels. This role collaboratively works to align logistics operations with production schedules and customer service delivery expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop and execute supply chain strategies aligned with business objectives.
· Manage procurement, inventory planning, warehousing, transportation, and distribution.
· Optimize inventory while minimizing carrying costs and stockouts.
· Direct inbound and outbound logistics operations.
· Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
· Develop and coach logistics and supply chain personnel.
· Manage departmental budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
· Build strong supplier and carrier relationships.
· Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies.
Leadership and Team Management:
· Manage all team actions to ensure tasks are completed appropriately through Company systems to ensure effective and efficient operations. Serve as a backup to the logistics team.
· Supervise, hire, develop, appraise, performance manage, motivate, coach, and engage staff across the department and related functions. Provide training and support employee development and succession planning.
· Schedule labor resources effectively to meet operational demands while managing overtime and productivity goals. You are in charge of timecard approvals and discrepancies and ensuring accuracy.
· Lead communication between customer service, sales, planning, purchasing and the distribution center to review potential planning issues and misses for on time delivery.
· Create and maintain all processes, policies, and procedures related to logistics and the team in Lincolnton.
Shipping, Receiving and Freight Management:
· Manage all inbound and outbound logistics activities to ensure timely delivery and receipt of materials and finished goods.
· Collaborate with procurement, production, and customer service to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve shipment issues promptly.
· Coordinate and plan all outbound shipments for Marcal sites in a timely, efficient, cost-effective manner, 3-5 days ahead of plant requirements to meet customers’ expectations.
· Manage and coordinate the inbound SCT’s with production facilities and shipping as well as the LDC (N. Carolina) warehouse to prioritize unloading.
· On time in full coordination, make key decisions and implement initiatives to ensure trucks leave on time in full.
· Monitor and manage “Opendock” to ensure shipping and receiving inventories at its optimal levels.
· Optimizes freight and transportation costs through carrier management, route planning, and contract negotiations.
Distribution and Logistics:
· Implement and monitor KPIs related to shipping accuracy, freight spend, delivery performance, and warehouse productivity.
· Recommend and implement process improvements to drive operational excellence and cost reduction.
· Develop and implement efficient distribution strategies to support on-time delivery metrics and thereby customer satisfaction.
Systems and Compliance:
· Ensure accurate transactions in ERP or all other Warehouse Management Systems for inventory movements, shipping, and receiving.
· Maintain compliance with internal controls, quality standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., DOT, OSHA).
· Prepare and present operational reports to the Director as required.
Key Experience and Behaviors
· Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree desired in Supply Chain, logistics, operations, engineering or business with related experience in the discipline.
· Proactive thinker and Self-Starter and the desire to advance in the organization into roles of increasing responsibility.
· Strong analytical and presentation skills as required
· Proficient in Microsoft Suite including but not limited to WORD, Excel, PowerPoint and related products.
· Prior experience in SYSPRO and/or other related logistics and supply chain tools that drive efficiency
· 7–10 years of progressive supply chain/logistics experience.
· 3–5 years of leadership experience.
· ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics or equivalent).
· APICS (CPIM/CSCP) and Lean/Six Sigma certifications preferred.

Salary : $130,000 - $140,000
