Electrical & Instrumentation Technician

Marcal is seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician to join our operations team in Natchez, MS. This critical role provides specialized electrical, instrumentation, measurement, and PLC support across our operational assets, including natural gas processing plants, compressor stations, and associated pipelines.

The ideal candidate has strong troubleshooting skills, hands-on industrial maintenance experience, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

As an E&I Technician, you will:

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain plant and field instrumentation, electrical systems, and control devices.
• Diagnose and repair process measurement equipment including flow, pressure, and temperature transmitters.
• Maintain motor controls, switchgear, and other electrical distribution equipment.
• Troubleshoot PLC hardware and software, including ladder logic, I/O modules, and network communications (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and similar platforms).
• Perform routine calibration and functional testing of instrumentation to ensure accurate measurement and regulatory compliance.
• Schedule and complete preventative maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
• Assist with installation, startup, commissioning, and modification of electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and single-line drawings.
• Maintain accurate maintenance, calibration, and repair documentation within the CMMS.
• Follow all company safety policies and industry regulations, including NFPA 70E electrical safety standards.

QualificationsRequired

• Technical degree or vocational certificate in Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, Automation, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on E&I maintenance experience in an industrial environment.
• Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience.
• Experience troubleshooting and programming PLC systems such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar.
• Strong understanding of:
• Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
• Electrical schematics
• Single-line drawings
• Process instrumentation and control valves
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions

This position may require:

• Working rotating shifts and participating in an on-call schedule.
• Responding to emergency maintenance situations outside of normal business hours.
• Working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Climbing ladders, lifting equipment, bending, and working in confined spaces.
• Working extended hours as operational needs require.
