Position: Food Truck Driver/Cafe Worker
Position Location: Food Services Department
Work Day/Year: 7 Hours a Day, Follow School Calendar (184 Days)
Reports to: Director of Food Services, Nutrition Operations Specialist
Hours: 6:30-1:30
School Food Service Truck Driver/Cafeteria Worker

The Purpose of the School Food Service Delivery Driver is to transport Food, Meals, Equipment, Supplies, Etc. to all 5 schools in the district set forth by the Food Service Director. The Base location for this Job will be at the Village school. The Delivery driver will report to the Village School cafeteria Manager every morning for delivery manifest. On days deliveries will not be needed the Delivery driver will report to the Village School for kitchen assignments.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Transport and Delivery:
Load, transport, deliver meals, food supplies, and equipment to 5 schools throughout the district.
The food Service director will provide a predetermined schedule.
Ensure that food items are delivered in a timely and safe manner, maintaining the integrity and temperature of the food.
Vehicle Maintenance:
Perform daily vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the delivery vehicle.
Report any mechanical issues or damage to the vehicle to the appropriate personnel.
Compliance and Safety:
Follow all safety protocols and traffic laws while operating the delivery vehicle.
Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines to prevent contamination.
Ensure proper handling of food items to prevent spoilage or damage.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate delivery logs and records of food items transported.
Report any discrepancies or issues encountered during delivery to the supervisor.
Complete any required paperwork related to deliveries and vehicle maintenance.
Customer Service:
Interact professionally and courteously with school staff and other stakeholders.
Address any delivery-related concerns or issues promptly and effectively.
Kitchen Duties When not Delivering:
Assist Cafeteria Manager in meal preparation and serving, including cutting vegetables, assembling sandwiches, and portioning food items
Maintain a clean and sanitary cafeteria environment, including cleaning tables, sweeping, mopping, and washing dishes
Monitor food temperatures and quality to ensure safety and freshness
Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines as outlined by the school and local health authorities
Replenish food and supplies as needed
Assist in inventory management and restocking of cafeteria items
Collaborate with the cafeteria team to ensure efficient and smooth meal service
Provide excellent customer service to students and staff
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience in delivery driving or a related field is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) may be required, depending on the vehicle size.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to lift and carry heavy items, up to [X] pounds.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
Familiarity with local routes and traffic patterns.
Other Requirements:
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Availability to work flexible hours, including early mornings.
Working Conditions:
The role involves significant driving and physical activity, including loading and unloading food items.
The driver will be exposed to various weather conditions while performing outdoor tasks.
The position may require working in a refrigerated environment to handle certain food items.
