Special Education Teacher TLC (K-3)

Marblehead Public Schools seeks a compassionate, skilled, and collaborative Special Education Teacher to lead a Therapeutic Learning Classroom serving students in grades K–3. This specialized program is designed to support students with social, emotional, behavioral, and learning needs through a highly structured, relationship-centered environment that fosters academic growth, emotional regulation, and increased access to inclusive educational experiences. About the Role We are looking for an exceptional Special Education Teacher to join our team. Key Responsibilities -Dynamic Teaching & Student Success -Empower Diverse Learners: Design and deliver engaging, highly differentiated individual and small-group lessons aligned with students’ I---IEPs and Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. -Build an Empowering Classroom: Create a structured, predictable, and welcoming environment that fosters student independence, self-regulation, and academic confidence. -Drive Growth: Apply evidence-based instructional strategies to ensure students achieve both academic milestones and social-emotional growth. Behavioral & Social-Emotional Guidance -Support the Whole Child: Integrate trauma-informed, restorative practices and Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs) to meet students where they are. -Proactive De-escalation: Employ proactive strategies and therapeutic crisis intervention techniques to maintain a safe, peaceful learning space. -Teach Life Skills: Champion Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) to help students build self-awareness, emotional management, and strong interpersonal relationships. -Data-Informed Support: Track behavioral and social-emotional progress to continually refine and tailor your interventions. IEP Leadership & Advocacy -Craft Tailored Goals: Develop, implement, and track meaningful IEPs that set students up for long-term success. -Track & Celebrate Progress: Maintain clear, concise documentation of student growth and share insights during Team meetings, evaluations, and annual reviews. Collaboration & Community Engagement -Partner for Impact: Work hand-in-hand with general education teachers, counselors, behavior specialists, therapists, and administrators to deliver wraparound student support. -Lead & Mentor: Guide and support Educational Support Professionals (Paraprofessionals) in implementing targeted instructional and behavioral strategies. -Bridge Home & School: Cultivate warm, open, and authentic relationships with families to build a unified support system for every child. -Champion Inclusion: Contribute positively to a collaborative school culture rooted in high expectations, equity, and belonging.
