What are the responsibilities and job description for the Back-Up High Lift Operator position at Marathon Cheese Corporation?
This position will be a full time Material Handler, and Back-Up High Lift Operator. The person who fills this role will only perform High-Lift Operator duties as needed by supervision. Please read job description below.
Core Hours
Monday thru Friday, 6:00 am to 2:00 pm. *Saturday hours are generally 6:00 am to 12:00 pm. Availability of Saturday hours are dependent on production and staffing needs.
Material Handler Duties & Responsibilities
- Opening product, feeding cheese onto cutting equipment and changing and adjusting cutting equipment.
- Compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, SQF and established safety rules and regulations.
- Moving pallets, basic cleanup/sweeping and assisting other positions as needed.
- Ability to pack cheese product into boxes, stack boxes on pallets and inspect packages and boxes for good seals and code dates.
- Understand and utilize box erecting, case sealing, and labeling equipment.
- Perform sanitation of the work area and equipment as needed.
High Lift Operator Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for operating a high-lift forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack and count materials.
- Accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform order fill and checker duties.
- Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
- On a daily basis, inspect and perform minor maintenance on the forklift or other equipment.
- Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.
Knowledge/Skills Required
- Must be able to read and write English.
- Must have a strong math background and work well with numbers.
- Must be able to give and accept constructive criticism and work as a team player.
- Responsible for maintaining a professional image with customers, peers, supervisors and the public.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Must be capable of reading and understanding customer orders.
- Must be a self-starter, require limited supervision, and capable of fast-pace work.
- Should have some mechanical ability in order to make minor equipment adjustments.
- Must be people oriented and able to work well with others.
- Must be capable of passing the safety training and operating a double lift forklift.
Education & Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred . Education beyond High School would be a plus. Forklift experience is desirable. Prior manufacturing and/or packaging experience would also be a plus.
Working Conditions
Work inside a clean manufacturing environment. Required to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, and be physically capable of handling weights of up to 100 pounds.
