What are the responsibilities and job description for the Farm Production Assistant position at Maranatha Farm?
The Seasonal Farm Production Assistant is a part time position that helps with a broad range of farm tasks. The Farm Production Assistant’s main focus is to provide support to the Farm Production Steward. This position assists the Farm Production Steward with the farm’s product offerings, CSA program, customer orders, and on-site/online, customer facing store and Farmer’s Market operations.
With an aim to achieve a balance between in-store assistance, value-added farm product production, and administrative work, through the lens of sustainability and restoration ecology, this position frequently requires the expenditure of physical labor and the occasional use of dehydrators, freeze dryers, Point of Sale apps (Shopify), as well as other tools combined with a keen sense to observe patterns and details.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead role to clean and package our pasture raised eggs for sale to customers, and apply labels/fill/prepare products for sale
- Administrative support to the Farm Production Steward printing product labels, canvas, and spreadsheet maintenance.
- Supporting role in processing produce including vegetables, fruit, mushrooms and herbs for value-add goods such as dehydrating and freeze drying.
- Supporting role to create value-add products for sale
- Supporting role to pack, set-up and run the monthly Farmer’s Market and weekly on-farm market (Wednesday and Thursday 4-6pm)
- Supporting role to prepare and setup monthly workshops and farm tours
- Other miscellaneous duties as assigned
Required Skills, Physical Qualifications and Competencies
- Experience farming and/or working with value added food products/food service a plus
- Servsafe certification a plus
- Computer literacy a plus
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills at all times
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- The ability to repeatedly and safely lift 40 pounds
- Avid respect and curiosity for natural resources and the restoration of land/Regenerative Agriculture/Permaculture
- Communicate and co-operate consistently with co-workers, owners, consultants, caretakers, service providers
- Work independently as well as part of a team, asking questions freely
- Follow instructions and take initiative
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions
Weekly hours: Tuesdays: 12pm-4:30pm, Wednesday and Thursday 12pm-6:30pm and an occasional Saturday Farmer’s Market. This seasonal position ends on December 5, 2026.
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
