S27-1131 Lifeguard

Responsibilities:

• Monitor activities in the water to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of swimmers.
• Enforce rules and regulations to prevent injuries or accidents.
• Supervise swimmers and provide quick response in case of emergencies.
• Rescue distressed swimmers, provide first aid or CPR if necessary.
• Maintain order around pool or water areas, preventing risky behavior.
• Inspect safety equipment such as life vests, lifeboats, and first aid supplies.
• Communicate with other lifeguards or supervisors to report incidents or unsafe conditions.
• Conduct regular patrols of the area, ensuring that water conditions are safe.
• Assist with pool maintenance tasks such as testing water pH levels and ensuring cleanliness.

Qualifications:

• Certification in lifeguarding (such as Red Cross Lifeguard Certification).
• CPR and First Aid Certification.
• Strong swimming skills and physical fitness.
• Excellent observation and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with swimmers and enforcing rules.

Work Environment:

• Work may take place in indoor pools or outdoor swimming facilities.
• Lifeguards may work in various weather conditions, including sun, rain, or wind in outdoor settings.
• Must be comfortable standing or sitting for extended periods and remaining alert at all times.

Terms of Employment:

• Seasonal position - $16.54/hour
