MHC Healthcare is seeking a Per Diem - Pharmacy Technician to join the Pharmacy team at the Marana Main Health Center, located in the heart of Marana, AZ. The Pharmacy Technician provides customer service and performs duties under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist within the permissible activities as defined by the Arizona Board of Pharmacy (AZBoP). MHC Healthcare is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC), with 17 sites in Tucson and Pima County. - High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician by the Arizona Board of Pharmacy
- Cash handling experience
- Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- Experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a similar setting
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)

- Receives and fills prescriptions according to established procedures and ensuring proper review for accuracy by supervising Pharmacist.
- Enters patient medication orders or prescriptions into the pharmacy computer system or transcribes them into appropriate documents.
- Identifies issues related to patient medication orders or prescription processing and assists the supervising Pharmacist with proposed alternative solutions, problem resolution, and follow-up.
- Documents dispensing preparation, charging information, workload, and quality assurance data.
- Follows established manual and electronic inventory control procedures.
- Complies with local, state, and federal regulations regarding the practice of pharmacy.
- Repackages and labels bulk medications into unit dose packages.
- Answers phones and provides customer service within the established scope of permissible duties of Pharmacy Technicians as defined by the AZBoP.
- Participates in audits and quarterly reviews of drug outdates.
- Assists with training and providing technical advice to other technicians and clerks.
- Understands and complies with quality control procedures.
- Recommends process improvements to pharmacy leadership, including those related to safety and quality control.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to policies and protocols related to infection control, medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
- Complies with established financial procedures including proper cash handling protocols, collection of copayments, accuracy and timeliness of insurance information, billing payors, and preparation of financial reports.
- Participates in trainings and continuing education.
- Complies with all MHC Healthcare policies and procedures including those related to HIPAA and compliance.
