MHC Healthcare is seeking a Dental Assistant Supervisor to join the Dental team at the Marana Main Health Center, located in the heart of Marana, AZ. The Dental Assistant Supervisor promotes patients’ health by providing supervision, guidance, mentorship, and oversight to the Dental Assistant (DA) staff and assists clinicians with care for patients in dental health.
MHC Healthcare is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC), with 17 sites in Tucson and Pima County. Our mission is to improve our Community by providing exceptional, whole-person healthcare.

The following qualifications are required:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years’ experience as a Dental Assistant
  • Successful completion of the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) exam or Dental Assistant Radiography Certification by Credential from the Arizona State Board of Dental Examiners (ASBDE)
  • Experience with Eaglesoft
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (may be completed with MHC upon hire)
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Current Arizona driver’s license with clean driving record and proof of current vehicle insurance (39-month MVR will be run by MHC)
The following qualifications are preferred:
  • Associate degree in healthcare or business related field
  • Supervisory experience, or experience as a senior-level or lead Dental Assistant
  • Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certificate from DANB
  • Dental Assistant Coronal Polishing certificate from DANB
  • Experience with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job.

This position has the following supervisory responsibility:
Supervises and monitors performance for an assigned group of employees. Supervisory duties include hiring and disciplinary actions, overseeing work assignments and quality, scheduling and timekeeping, performance evaluations, and training and development.

  • Competent in providing appropriate care for all age groups.
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations related to the DA scope of care.
  • Knowledge of chronic disease management.
  • Computer proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Excellent organization and time management skills with ability to manage competing demands and adapt to frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Proven effective leadership with demonstrated ability to effectively direct, delegate, motivate, and build high-performing, collaborative teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plans, administers, and supervises the day-to-day activities of DA staff.
  • Coordinates DA schedules and work assignments to support adequate clinician and site coverage.
  • In collaboration with the Dental Director, ensures DA staff is equipped with orientation, mentoring, competency, and ongoing training to provide high quality patient care.
  • Ensures activities are carried out in accordance with quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Serves as a liaison between clinicians and the DA team.
  • Supervises and administers the daily operational tasks within the patient care area.
  • Assists clinicians with patient care, examinations, and procedures and performs other DA duties as needed.
  • Maintains communication and collaborates with clinicians, other departments, and staff to avoid conflicts with schedules or clinic workflows, and identifies and addresses concerns in a timely manner.
  • Ensures DAs obtain and document proper patient consent prior to treatments and procedures.
  • Conducts frequent quality assurance audits of assigned staff.
  • Completes assigned projects, which may require reviewing and analyzing information, identifying problems, and making recommendations for solutions.
  • Performs as a super-user, as needed, providing training related to Eaglesoft processes and upgrades.
  • Ensures DAs maintain documentation of patient care services by completing patient and department records in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ensures quality of care by maintaining clinical standards and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Protects patients and employees by complying with infection control policies and protocols and following medication administration and storage procedures.
  • Ensures proper sterilization of instruments and surgical packs.
  • Ensures safe and proper operation of medical equipment by completing preventive maintenance, following manufacturer’s instructions, addressing malfunctions, requesting repairs, maintaining inventory, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Ensures appropriate levels of dental supply inventory, ensuring appropriate stock is available, avoiding overstock of supplies, and carefully observing expiration dates and budgetary considerations.
  • Reports communicable diseases to agencies as required.
  • Ensures appropriate documentation of required reports.
  • Participates in educational programs and workshops.
  • Leads or participates in relevant committees or special projects.
  • Administrative and patient care responsibilities to be determined based on operational needs.
