Title: High School Assistant Principal
Reports to: High School Principal
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in school administration with Evaluator Approval
- Meet all requirements as set forth by the DE and BOEE.
- Minimum of five years successful experience in classroom teaching, preferably at the secondary level.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Term of Contract:
- 220 days.
- Salary and work year to be reviewed and established by the Board.
Evaluation: Performance of the position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board Policy.
Characteristics:
- Experience with implementing researched based instructional practices and an effective MTSS system at the secondary level.
- Experience with implementing and facilitating the professional learning community process and has evidence of supporting teams in setting goals that allow them to make growth towards implementation.
- Experience with implementing high leverage Social, Emotional learning practices that support the development of the whole child and their families.
- Provides evidence of a growth mindset and is solution focused when working with students and adults.
- A belief that all students can learn and all students have strengths and gifts.
- Possess a servant leadership style and has a natural ability to build trust and relationships with students, staff, parents and community leaders.
- An articulate and effective communicator that can unite staff on important decisions, policies and procedures.
- A willingness to embrace and promote diversity.
- Has experience and skills to strengthen online learning opportunities for students and provide teachers with ample opportunity to improve their approach and execution of online learning.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Pupil Services
1.1 Assists principal in creating a positive learning environment.
1.2 Assists the principal in developing positive interpersonal relationships among students, teachers, and administrators.
1.3 Assists the principal in managing the student services, including development and proper implementation of guidelines for activity sponsors.
1.4 Assists in the supervision of non-certified personnel, the maintenance of the building and preparation of special reports and forms.
1.5 Supervises and is accountable for the maintenance and currency of each student's attendance records.
1.6 Assists the principal in implementing student discipline within district guidelines.
1.7 Assists in the communication of the school's mission, purposes, program and problems to the students, staff, central office, Board and community.
1.8 Maintains professional growth through university level work, conventions, workshops and reading literature in the field.
1.9 Assists in the preparation of student and activity handbooks.
1.10 Routinely inspects school facilities, including hallways, restrooms, classrooms, and special areas.
1.11 Submits annually to the principal a minimum of two primary objectives for personal evaluation.
1.12 Serves as a district-wide coordinator of a specifically assigned curricular area.
1.13 Assists the principal in the development of in-service activities and staff development programs.
1.14 Performs such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may assign from time to time.
- Personnel Management
2.1 Assists the principal in teacher evaluations.
2.2 Assists in providing orientation to new staff members.
2.3 Assists professional staff in developing individual goals.
2.4 Administer the master contract as appropriate.
2.5 Shares with the Athletic Director and principal the responsibility of organizing and supervising all events and programs in the school.
2.6 Assists in the implementation of the plan for proper conduct of participants and spectators at all public events.
2.8 Assumes responsibility of the principal to his/her absence.
III. Building Management
3.3 Assist the principal in coordinating building expenditures within the available budget.

4.1 Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school.
4.2 Assist in maintaining discipline throughout the student body.
4.3 Assist the principal with parent, faculty, and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives.
4.4 Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as the principal may from time to time assign.
4.5 Serve as an active member of the administrative and management team.
4.6 Responsible for continuing professional improvement.
4.7 State annual objectives in terms of observable outcomes.
Length of Contract: 220 Days
Starting Date: August 1, 2025 (or as mutually agreed)
