Job Summary
Mapsted is building a large-scale retail data project and are seeking full-time team members based in the United States to assist with in-store data collection. This is a 40 hours per week, full-time position with travel expenses covered.
The work involves visiting grocery and retail stores, walking through the store, and capturing data using a scanning app on your iPhone Pro (models 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 or 17— regular Pro or Pro Max).
This is not mystery shopping or sales — it's a structured data collection role. You will receive clear, step-by-step instructions on how to complete each scan, including store navigation, scanning technique, and data upload process.
Requirements
Comfortable walking through stores and performing scans
Own one of the following iPhone models (required for LiDAR scanning):
- iPhone 12 Pro / Pro Max
- iPhone 13 Pro / Pro Max
- iPhone 14 Pro / Pro Max
- iPhone 15 Pro / Pro Max
- iPhone 16 Pro / Pro Max
- iPhone 17 Pro / Pro Max
Reliable internet connection (to upload scan files)
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
Professional, discreet, and respectful while working in public retail environments
Nice to Have
- Prior experience in field data collection, gig work, or retail (e.g., TaskRabbit, Field Agent, mystery shopping)
- Experience using 3D scanning apps (Polycam, Matterport, etc.)
- Flexibility to travel to and cover multiple stores in your area
Compensation
- Full-time (40 hours/week) position
- Travel expenses covered
