What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Driver Helper position at Maplewood Ice Inc?

Position Summary:
The Driver Helper supports delivery operations by assisting drivers with the safe, accurate, and efficient distribution of packaged ice to customers. This role includes loading and unloading products, verifying deliveries, maintaining equipment cleanliness, and adhering to all safety and food handling standards.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Assist drivers with daily delivery routes, including loading, unloading, and product placement at customer locations
2. Safely handle and transport packaged ice, ensuring product quality and integrity
3. Load delivery trucks according to route sequencing to maximize efficiency and minimize product damage
4. Use material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, and forklifts (if trained and authorized)
5. Verify delivery quantities and assist with basic customer interactions as needed
6. Maintain cleanliness and organization of trucks, loading areas, and equipment
7. Identify and report vehicle, equipment, or safety issues to management promptly
8. Follow all company policies, including GMPs, HACCP procedures, and safety protocols
9. Work in cold storage environments and outdoor conditions as required
10. Perform other duties as assigned to support operations
Qualifications:

Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
