What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Worker position at Maplewood Ice Inc?
This is a position for our Queensbury, NY production location. Training will take place in Whitehall, NY.
Position Summary:
The Production Worker is responsible for operating and supporting ice manufacturing and packaging processes to ensure products are produced safely, efficiently, and within company quality standards. This role includes machine operation, product handling, packaging, sanitation, and adherence to all food safety and safety protocols.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Production & Equipment Operation
- Set up, operate, and monitor ice production and packaging equipment according to established procedures
- Adjust machine controls to maintain efficiency, minimize waste, and ensure consistent product quality
- Perform routine checks to verify proper machine operation and product output
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions or performance issues promptly
Quality & Food Safety
- Inspect product to ensure it meets quality and safety standards
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and HACCP procedures
- Maintain sanitary conditions in production and packaging areas
- Immediately report any contamination risks, product defects, or food safety concerns
Packaging & Material Handling
- Package ice products into bags and prepare for distribution
- Stack, organize, and wrap pallets according to company standards
- Label finished goods accurately for inventory and distribution
- Transport finished product to designated storage or loading areas
- Operate pallet jacks, hand trucks, and forklifts (if trained and authorized)
Inventory & Documentation
- Maintain adequate supply of packaging and production materials
- Complete required production logs, quality checks, and documentation accurately
- Assist with inventory organization and stock rotation
General Operations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, equipment, and tools
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper PPE use
- Assist with loading trucks as needed to support distribution operations
- Perform other duties as assigned to support production and facility needs

Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
