Job Overview

We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Bilingual Inspect/Mend Yardage employee to support our manufacturing operations. This position is primarily responsible for inspecting and repairing tufted yardage as it is produced, identifying quality issues, and communicating with Tufting Operators to ensure defects are corrected promptly.

This is a cross-trained position that will also provide backup support for the Production Clerk as needed. When covering Production Clerk duties, the employee will assist with production data entry, reporting, recordkeeping, phone coverage, and other administrative tasks.

Bilingual communication skills are required.

Primary Responsibilities – Inspect/Mend Yardage

• Follow all established safety procedures and proper lifting practices.
• Inspect yardage as it is produced on the tufting machine and identify defects or quality concerns.
• Mend and repair yardage using a mending gun, scissors, and other appropriate tools.
• Communicate defects to the Tufting Operator so issues can be corrected promptly.
• Compare finished product to specifications or standards during style changes.
• Push and pull buggies of finished yardage to designated holding locations.
• Help ensure excess rugs and materials are kept off the production floor.
• Maintain an organized and safe work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Production Clerk Backup Responsibilities

When needed, this position will provide coverage for the Production Clerk and may be responsible for:

• Recording production information for Tufting, Twisting, Heatset, and Printline operations.
• Entering and verifying production data in AS400 and Microsoft Excel.
• Assisting with daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
• Maintaining accurate and organized digital and physical production records.
• Answering and directing incoming calls using a multi-line phone system.
• Greeting and directing visitors.
• Organizing and maintaining office supplies.
• Moving between the office and production floor to collect production information.
• Performing other administrative or production-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bilingual required.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous manufacturing experience is helpful but not required.
• Ability to read and understand specification sheets, machine setups, simple instructions, correspondence, and production documents.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify product defects.
• Ability to communicate effectively with machine operators, supervisors, and other team members.
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Good organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong data-entry accuracy and basic computer skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook, preferred.
• AS400 experience is a plus but not required.
• Ability and willingness to learn both production-floor and Production Clerk responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

• Stand and walk regularly for extended periods while performing production duties.
• Use hands and arms to handle materials, tools, and equipment.
• Reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, and climb a catwalk as required.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Assist another employee in pushing buggies weighing approximately 2,500 pounds.
• Perform occasional office work requiring sitting, computer use, and operation of standard office equipment.
• Move between office and production areas as needed.
• See details at close range and distinguish colors for product inspection.

Work Environment

This position works primarily in a manufacturing environment and may also spend time in an office when providing Production Clerk coverage.

Employees are regularly exposed to moving mechanical equipment, elevated work areas, and production-floor noise. The production environment can be loud and requires compliance with all applicable safety procedures and required personal protective equipment.
