Medication Technician or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)Job Overview
We are seeking a dependable and compassionate Medication Technician or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our care team. This position is responsible for medication administration, resident monitoring, clinical documentation, and supervising staff assigned to the shift.
The ideal candidate will be organized, attentive, and able to provide leadership while ensuring residents receive safe, respectful, and high-quality care.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and facility policies.
- Administer injections when permitted by licensure, certification, and scope of practice.
- Complete accurate and timely medical documentation.
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and report concerns promptly.
- Assist with implementing individualized care plans and monitoring resident progress.
- Communicate with physicians, nurses, families, pharmacies, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain resident confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements.
- Use the facility’s electronic health record system for documentation and reporting.
- Manage and provide direction to staff assigned to the shift.
- Delegate responsibilities according to staff roles and resident needs.
- Ensure all assigned job duties, resident care tasks, and required documentation are completed before the end of the shift.
- Monitor staff performance and address concerns as needed.
- Report unresolved resident, staffing, or operational concerns to the appropriate supervisor or administrator.
- Follow infection-control, medication-safety, and emergency-response procedures.
Qualifications
- Current Tennessee Medication Technician certification or Licensed Practical Nurse license, as applicable.
- Previous medication administration experience preferred.
- Knowledge of medical documentation requirements and standards.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems.
- Strong communication, organization, leadership, and time-management skills.
- Ability to supervise staff and work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
- Dependable attendance and attention to detail.
- Commitment to providing compassionate, resident-centered care.
- Drug testing is required
