Canine Care Specialist

Maple Leaf K9
Williston, VT Full Time
POSTED ON 10/26/2025 CLOSED ON 12/3/2025

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Canine Care Specialist position at Maple Leaf K9?

About Us:
Maple Leaf K9 is owned and operated by Ross and Lyra, who bring over 25 years of combined experience in the dog care industry. Based in Williston, we offer training, daycare, and boarding services that prioritize each dog’s individual experience and well-being—not volume or profit. Our small, close-knit team values ongoing education and professional development, learning directly from respected trainers and industry leaders.

We’re looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Canine Care Specialist who takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe environment and is eager to learn about canine behavior, communication, and care. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about dogs and motivated to grow their skills in a structured, supportive setting.

What You’ll Do

You’ll receive comprehensive, hands-on training for all tasks — no prior experience required. Our goal is to help you build confidence, skill, and understanding in every aspect of canine care. When you grow, the company grows.

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks to maintain a safe, sanitary, and organized facility.
  • Learn and assist with basic grooming services, including bathing, brushing, nail trims, and ear cleaning.
  • Support dogs through individualized or small-group enrichment activities that build trust and motivation.
  • Assist with client care, including check-ins, check-outs, and communicating daily updates via email, phone, or scheduling systems.
  • Gain experience in canine behavior, communication, and handling through guided mentorship from the team.

What We’re Looking For

No prior experience required — animal care, kennel, or cleaning experience is a plus, but we’re happy to provide thorough training for the right candidate.

  • Strong attention to detail, especially when it comes to maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Reliable and dependable — our small team relies on each other to complete all daily tasks and maintain a working environment that benefits both our dogs and team.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lb and comfortable being on your feet for several hours at a time.
  • Eager to learn and motivated to develop practical, hands-on skills in canine behavior and handling.

Why Join Maple Leaf K9?

We’re looking for a like-minded individual who shares our passion for canine behavior and balanced training, and who values maintaining a clean, structured environment where both dogs and people can thrive. At Maple Leaf K9, we believe that supporting our team’s professional development and personal well-being directly enhances the quality of care we provide.

  • Supportive, small-team environment with opportunities for professional growth in the pet care industry.
  • Structured approach to canine care that emphasizes quality over volume.
  • Opportunity to provide meaningful, individualized experiences for dogs in your care.
  • Employee discounts on training and boarding services. If employee’s dog is an appropriate fit for group socialization, dog may attend socialization for free when employee is onsite.

Ideal candidate would be available to work Sunday through Thursday. Full-time hours preferred, part-time hours considered for the right candidate.
