Procurement Manager- Walker, MI

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

• Source and purchase raw materials and components to support production schedules and inventory targets.
• Identify and qualify new international and domestic suppliers to expand sourcing options and reduce costs.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times to ensure quality, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.
• Manage relationships with overseas vendors, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure timely and compliant shipments.
• Coordinate logistics and shipping schedules to optimize freight costs and lead times.
• Maintain a strong understanding of tariffs, duties, and import/export regulations affecting textile materials.
• Prepare and manage documentation for customs, import compliance, and freight billing.
• Develop and implement standardized procurement procedures and documentation within a manual or semi-manual ERP system.
• Train, mentor, and develop current purchasing staff to enhance procurement efficiency and professional growth.
• Establish KPIs and reporting metrics to monitor departmental performance.

Essential Skills:

• Proven experience managing international suppliers, logistics coordination, and tariff compliance.
• Strong negotiation skills with a track record of reducing costs and improving supplier performance.
• Hands-on experience building or improving processes in a manual ERP or low-automation environment.
• Proficient in Excel and comfortable working with data to support decision-making.
• Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.

Educational Requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or related field is preferred. 

5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain within a manufacturing or textile environment.

Working Climate:

Position is primarily sedentary but does require the ability to occasionally carry boxes up to 30 lbs. in weight.
