What are the responsibilities and job description for the Processing Manager 3rd shift position at Maple Leaf Farms?
Essential Duties:
Operational Leadership
- Oversee all plant production activities, ensuring compliance with Safety, Quality, Food Safety, Sanitation, and Maintenance standards.
- Lead, mentor, and develop supervisory staff to support growth, succession planning, and team effectiveness.
- Manage daily production schedules and coordinate closely with Planning, Sales, Accounting, R&D, Distribution, and Growout to meet company objectives.
Performance Management & Analysis
- Monitor in-process and end-of-line production performance; review and interpret operational data and reporting.
- Present performance results and analysis to leadership as requested.
- Proactively identify operational issues and implement corrective actions.
Regulatory & Quality Compliance
- Maintain strong working relationships with USDA representatives and ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with QA management to address product quality, food safety concerns, and corrective/preventive actions related to HACCP.
Project & Budget Management
- Participate in plant planning, capital projects, and equipment evaluations; research vendors and solutions when assigned.
- Contribute to annual budgeting through data analysis and forecasting of future operational needs.
- Manage assigned expense categories and supply inventories to ensure cost control.
Employee Relations & HR Collaboration
- Work with Human Resources to address employee relations, staffing issues, disciplinary actions, and contract-related matters.
- Support a positive work environment and help ensure consistent application of company policies.
Additional Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions in partnership with the Maintenance team.
- Attend meetings, committees, and steering groups as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Specifications:
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
8–10 years of progressively responsible management experience in food manufacturing, ideally in poultry evisceration or packaging operations.
Strong working knowledge of USDA, OSHA, HACCP, company policies, and relevant regulatory standards.
Skills & Abilities
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
Effective communication skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and collaborate with diverse teams.
Ability to prepare, interpret, and analyze production data and performance metrics.
