Duties
- Operate lawn mowers, trimmers, hedge cutters, and other hand and power tools to maintain lawns and landscaped areas
- Perform landscape maintenance tasks including edging, pruning, planting, and mulching to enhance visual appeal
- Assist with irrigation system installation, repair, and maintenance to ensure healthy plant growth
- Conduct tree care activities such as trimming, pruning, and removal using appropriate tools and techniques
- Maintain hardscape features like walkways, patios, and retaining walls through cleaning and minor repairs
- Support snow plowing operations during winter months to ensure safe access and pathways
- Perform routine equipment inspections, cleaning, lubrication, and basic repairs to ensure optimal performance
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge of landscaping equipment and power tools
- Proficiency in lawn care techniques including mowing, edging, fertilizing, and aeration
- Experience with landscape maintenance practices such as planting, pruning, mulching, and soil preparation
- Familiarity with the use of hand tools like shovels, rakes, pruners, and saws as well as larger machinery like excavators when needed
- Knowledge of horticulture principles for plant health and landscape design
- Ability to operate irrigation systems effectively for watering schedules and repairs
- Experience in snow plowing operations during winter seasons for safe outdoor access
- Understanding of tree care including trimming and disease management
- Construction skills related to hardscape installation or repair projects
- Ability to perform routine maintenance on landscaping equipment to maximize lifespan and safety
