Position Summary:

The HR Generalist at MapleCareHomes Assisted Living will serve as a key operational and human resources leader supporting all four assisted living facilities. This role combines human resources management, facility coordination, and administrative oversight. The HR Generalist will handle all aspects of staffing, recruitment, onboarding, compliance, audits, scheduling, and special projects while also assisting with the overall well-being of staff and residents.
The HR Generalist will collaborate directly with Staff Leads at each facility to ensure smooth day-to-day operations, regulatory compliance, and high-quality service delivery. This position also oversees supplies management, licensing support, and coordination of special events across all facilities.
Key Responsibilities:

Staffing, Recruitment, and Hiring
  • Manage the full recruitment cycle: job postings, candidate sourcing, interviews, and onboarding for all facilities.
  • Conduct interviews independently and with Staff Leads to ensure the selection of qualified and compassionate employees.
  • Ensure all hiring documentation is complete, including background checks (NetStudy 2.0), I-9, W-4, and licensing verification.
  • Maintain an organized candidate pipeline and track staffing levels across all facilities.
  • Partner with the Program Director to forecast hiring needs and ensure appropriate coverage at each location.
Onboarding & Employee Integration
  • Oversee new hire onboarding and orientation, ensuring compliance with company policies and Minnesota 144G requirements.
  • Ensure all staff receive proper training before independent work, including CPR/First Aid, shadowing, and emergency procedures.
  • Monitor probationary evaluations (30, 60, 90 days) and ensure feedback is completed by Staff Leads.


Compliance, Audits & Licensing
  • Ensure all four facilities remain in compliance with Minnesota 144G Assisted Living regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records for staff credentials, training, and background studies.
  • Assist with licensing renewals, annual state surveys, and special projects related to audits or inspections.
  • Conduct internal compliance audits to ensure readiness for state inspections.
  • Support staff in understanding and adhering to company policies, HIPAA, OSHA, and confidentiality standards.
Training & Development
  • Track and coordinate ongoing staff education including annual training, mental health/behavioral support training, and in-service sessions.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure documentation of all required staff certifications and continuing education credits.
  • Partner with nursing and clinical staff to schedule and document medical, health, and behavior-related training.
Operational & Facility Support
  • Coordinate with Staff Leads to oversee the day-to-day functioning of facilities, ensuring smooth operations and quality resident care.
  • Oversee appointments, grocery orders, and supply management across all locations, ensuring cost control and efficiency.
  • Support staff with administrative needs such as scheduling, record updates, and operational reporting.
  • Ensure all facilities maintain adequate inventory and a clean, organized environment.
  • Manage or assist with special projects such as new facility setup, renovation coordination, or program expansion.
Health, Mental Health & Behavioral Support
  • Maintain awareness of resident and staff wellness, ensuring mental health and behavioral needs are appropriately supported.
  • Collaborate with staff and external professionals to ensure residents’ physical and emotional well-being.
  • Review behavior support strategies with staff and ensure interventions align with care goals and best practices.
  • Provide support to staff in handling sensitive behavioral or crisis situations.
Employee Relations & Engagement
  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee concerns, questions, or workplace issues.
  • Support Staff Leads in resolving conflicts, promoting teamwork, and ensuring a positive work environment.
  • Coordinate staff recognition events, appreciation days, and social gatherings to build morale and unity across facilities.
  • Promote clear communication between staff and leadership through regular meetings and feedback sessions.

Compliance with Payroll & HR Data
  • Maintain accurate employee data in HR systems, ensuring all information is updated and compliant.
  • Support the Program Director with payroll setup and data verification for accuracy (new hires, terminations, timekeeping, etc.).
  • Track attendance, leaves, and ensure compliance with company attendance policies.
  • Generate reports on employee turnover, headcount, and compliance status.

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, or Business Administration preferred.

Experience:
  • Minimum 1 years of HR or facility management experience, preferably in healthcare or assisted living.
  • Experience managing multi-site operations or coordinating multiple facilities required.
  • At least one year of experience in health, mental health, or behavioral support settings strongly preferred.


Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of HR functions (recruitment, onboarding, compliance, and employee relations).
  • Excellent understanding of Minnesota 144G Assisted Living regulations.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple responsibilities across locations with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in HRIS, scheduling systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.

Working Conditions:
  • Hours: Full-time, primarily weekdays with occasional evenings/weekends for staffing or training needs.
  • Travel: Regular travel between all four MapleCareHomes facilities.
  • Environment: Mix of office-based work and onsite presence at assisted living facilities for employee and leadership support.
