What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head of Commercial Lines position at MAPFRE Insurance?
The Head of Commercial Lines is a senior executive position at MAPFRE reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer. The leader is responsible for setting the direction and overseeing all aspects of our commercial property and casualty insurance business, including strategy development, underwriting, policies, and procedures resulting in targeted growth and market penetration within the commercial insurance sector.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education: Master's Degree or professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, or equivalent related experience preferred.
Experience: 9 - 11 years or Bachelor's Degree equivalent plus 11 - 13 years.
Knowledge: Extensive level of professional knowledge in field across broad disciplines and business segments. Extensive knowledge of general management, strategy and policy-setting practices.
Decision Making: Decisions have a major impact on the entire company's results. Interprets and operationalizes company policies. Responsible with other top managers for setting division, group, company, or corporate-wide policies and objectives. Responsible for a division, function, or multiple major business segments, which are directly impacted by decisions taken.
Supervision Received: Acts independently, guided only by very broad company policies and objectives. Work is reviewed from a strategic, relatively long-term perspective against major objectives impacting a major portion of the company.
Leadership: Responsible, through subordinate management, for an overall corporate staff function or a large segment of the company, such as a division or group of profit centers. Determines vision, strategy, and goals, and allocates resources including subordinate management responsibilities.
Problem Solving /Operations/Direct Work Involvement: Responsible for overall surveillance and success of assigned functions and integrating their activities with other major organizational segments from both a tactical and strategic standpoint.
Client Contacts: Represents the division, group, company, or corporation as prime internal and external contact on matters of critical interest and significance. Conducts briefings for both internal and external top management.
