What are the responsibilities and job description for the Perioperative Registered Nurse position at MAO Leawood Surgery Center?
If you love surgery, teamwork, and the satisfaction of a smooth OR day, you'll fit right in. If you also enjoy brunch, football games, lake days, and not being called in on weekends, you'll fit in even better.

Whether you're caring for patients in Pre-Op, the OR, or PACU, you'll play an essential role in creating a safe, smooth, and positive surgical experience from start to finish.

What You'll Do
No two days are exactly alike, but you can expect to:
- Welcome and prepare patients for surgery by completing assessments and reviewing medical histories.
- Help patients feel informed, comfortable, and confident before their procedure.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and fellow teammates to deliver outstanding perioperative care.
- Assist during surgical procedures while maintaining sterile technique and patient safety standards.
- Monitor patient status throughout the perioperative process and respond appropriately to changes in condition.
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and clinical best practices.
- Provide post-operative care, patient education, and discharge instructions.
- Accurately document patient care within the electronic medical record.
- Jump in and support the team wherever needed because that's what great teammates do.
What We're Looking For
Our ideal candidate is:
- A licensed Registered Nurse with perioperative experience.
- Experienced in the operating room, pre-op, PACU, or a combination of all three.
- Calm under pressure and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Team-oriented with excellent communication skills.
- Passionate about delivering exceptional patient care.
- Committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Positive, dependable, and ready to contribute to a supportive workplace culture.
Bonus Points If You Have
