The Raw Material Junior Buyer supports the procurement team by sourcing, purchasing, and monitoring raw materials required for manufacturing operations. The role ensures timely availability of materials, maintains supplier relationships, assists with cost control initiatives, and helps prevent production disruptions by coordinating with suppliers and internal departments.
Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement Activities
- Create and process purchase orders for raw materials.
- Monitor inventory levels and replenish stock according to production requirements.
- Follow up on purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery.
- Coordinate with suppliers regarding order confirmations, lead times, and shipment schedules.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
Supplier Management
- Communicate with existing suppliers regarding pricing, delivery schedules, and quality issues.
- Assist in identifying and evaluating new suppliers.
- Support supplier performance monitoring and improvement activities.
- Build positive working relationships with vendors.
Inventory & Production Support
- Work closely with production planning, warehouse, and quality teams to ensure material availability.
- Monitor material shortages and expedite urgent orders when necessary.
- Assist in managing safety stock levels and inventory optimization.
Cost Control
- Obtain and compare supplier quotations.
- Support negotiations for favorable pricing and payment terms.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
Reporting & Administration
- Maintain purchasing databases and ERP system information.
- Prepare procurement reports on supplier performance, spending, and inventory status.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.
QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- 0-2 years of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or manufacturing experience.
- Internship experience in procurement or supply chain is an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of purchasing and inventory management principles.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, etc.).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes is preferred.
