Job Summary:
A privately owned precision manufacturer is seeking an experienced Materials & Supply Chain Manager to oversee purchasing, materials planning, inventory management, supplier relationships, and shipping operations. This is a key leadership role offering the opportunity to partner with executive leadership and make a direct impact on operational performance.
Responsibilities:
- Lead purchasing, materials planning, inventory control, and supplier management.
- Develop material plans using customer demand, production schedules, inventory levels, supplier lead times, and ERP/MRP systems.
- Ensure raw materials, purchased components, tooling, and outside services are available to support production.
- Negotiate supplier pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial agreements.
- Drive cost reduction, inventory optimization, and supplier performance initiatives.
- Monitor inventory levels, shortages, excess materials, and inventory turns.
- Develop alternate sourcing strategies to reduce supply chain risk.
- Analyze purchasing and inventory data to support business decisions.
- Partner with Production, Engineering, Quality, Sales, and Customer Service to support manufacturing operations.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in Materials Management, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Production Planning, or Inventory Management within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with batch, discrete, or mixed-model manufacturing.
- Strong ERP/MRP systems experience.
- Proven supplier negotiations, sourcing, inventory optimization, and demand planning experience.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and analytical skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred:
- APICS (CPIM, CSCP, or CPSM)
- Lean Manufacturing or Kanban experience
- Experience with precision machining, fabricated metals, industrial components, aerospace, automotive, hydraulics, heavy equipment, or other engineered products
