FLSA Status:         Exempt

 

PURPOSE OF JOB:

Responsible for providing instruction in the area of Skill Trades (Construction Technology, Auto Technology, Auto Collision)

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop and execute lesson plans that lead toward student achievement of competencies in the area of Skill Trades.
  2. Develop and update, as needed, the curriculum for Skill Trades.
  3. Prepare orders for the purchase of supplies, tools, equipment, and instructional materials necessary to support the learning activities of Skill Trades.
  4. Maintain inventory, repair records, and ensure the safe and proper operation and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  5. Maintain an Advisory Board and keep records of meeting notices, meeting agendas, and meeting minutes.
  6. Remain informed of new trends, methods, materials, tools, and equipment in Skill Trades.
  7. Actively participate in all professional development activities as required by the School District of Kansas City, Missouri.
  8. Integrate Career & Technical Student Organization (C.T.S.O.) leadership activities into the program.
  9. Perform willingly, other duties as assigned by the Coordinator/Director.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  None

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Hold or be eligible for a Missouri Career Education Certification in the area of Trade and Industrial Education.
  2. Provide documentation and verification of a minimum of three (3) years or (6,000) hours of direct occupational experience in Building Construction Technology within the most recent ten years. A Baccalaureate Degree or Associates Degree from an accredited institution with a major in Building Construction Technology may be considered as meeting one year or (2,000) hours of the employment requirement.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree
  2. Teaching experience in an urban setting

This job requires that the employee be able to: sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, reach with hands and fingers; bend, stoop, lift objects of at least ten pounds. Job requires the employee occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Visual ability requires mono and color vision, close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Length of work year: 185 day calendar; 8hrs/day, 5 days/week

KCPS Defined Benefit Pension plan – mandatory 9% contribution is required from employee and matched by KCPS; Voluntary retirement savings plans are also available.
