PURPOSE OF JOB:  Interpret for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in a variety of situations using the appropriate sign language system to facilitate communication between individuals so that optimum learning can take place.

What You'll Be Doing: (Responsibilities)

1. Interpret for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students who are mainstreamed into regular education classes (academic, support).
2. Interpret for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students at school functions and extracurricular activities.
3. Interpret for Deaf and Hard of hearing students during psycho-educational and other evaluations by the District or contracted personnel.
4. Interpret for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students/parents at placement or other educational related conferences/activities.
5. Interpret as assigned according to individual student or program needs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  None

To Be Successful at This Job, You'll Need To: (Qualifications)

• High School Diploma
• Minimum of Certification Level III - Missouri Certification & Licensure

Note: out of state certifications are subject to review/approval by District Administration and the Missouri Commission for the Deaf (MCD)

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Educational interpreting experience
• Completion of Interpreter Training Program

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Length of work year:  10 month calendar
