What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pavement CQA Observer position at Mantis Innovation?
Position Summary:
As a Pavement Construction Quality Assurance Observer you'll be a field expert, inspecting various pavement surfaces and base systems, and conducting quality assurance observations for our ongoing subcontractor pavement projects. Partnering closely with our Project Managers, you'll make sure our clients receive high value pavement management services. This role is perfect for those with a solid construction background who are ready to travel to various client sites and job sites around the country.
\n- Lead pavement construction projects, ensuring timely and successful completion.
- Conduct site visits to oversee and verify the quality of pavement work.
- Collaborate with Design and Project Management teams to develop and execute work plans.
- Uphold our stringent safety and quality standards across all job sites.
- Guide and unite your team, fostering collaboration and excellence in the field.

- Inspect and evaluate concrete and asphalt assets under the direction of a Project Manager/Project Coordinator with consistent accuracy
- Identify any hazardous conditions
- Collect pertinent information of condition and defects using a hand held device & GPS included below:
- Perimeter description (curb, wall, edge) with related defects (cracks, breaks, etc.)
- Asphalt parking and drive defects (alligatoring, block cracking, raveling, etc.)
- Concrete parking, drive, slab defects (heaving, spalling, divided slab, etc.)
- Locate defects with handheld device and GPS
- Locate related inventory (bollards, ramps, docks, ADA, striping, lighting, etc.)
- Photos
- Make recommendations based upon inspection
- Proven experience in construction, with a sharp eye for quality in pavement projects.
- Leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire our ground crew.
- A readiness to travel extensively to where our projects take you.
- Strong communication skills and organizational skills.
- A history of hands-on work paired with client-facing experience.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt, including skills like roofing inspections, to support diverse work requirements.
- Clear and effective interpersonal skills.
$30 - $41 an hour
